As an applicant for the Master of Business Administration General degree program, you must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, with transcripts verifying a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (or 2.75 with three years of relevant work experience) to achieve full admission status. You must submit a resume with three professional references.

Master of Science in Education (MSEd) /academics/degree/master-of-science-in-education-msed/ Thu, 27 Jun 2024 23:39:05 +0000 /academics/?post_type=degree&p=90417 The purpose of the Master of Arts or Science in Education program is to provide learners with strong graduate-level courses of study related to various fields of education by fostering scholarship, instructional excellence, cross-cultural sensitivity, and professional leadership. Key to the program is an emphasis on educational leadership within the school, the workplace, and the broader community.

The program is open both to licensed teachers and to working professionals outside the public school setting. Advanced licensure and endorsements for licensed teachers include Initial Administrative License, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Reading Intervention Endorsement, and Autism Spectrum Disorder with Applied Behavior Analyst Certification. Concentrations that do not require a teaching license are Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum and Instruction in STEM Education, Leadership in Early Childhood Education, Leadership in Higher Education, Public Health Education, Reading and Literacy, and General Studies (a personalized program worked out with a faculty advisor). Degree candidates may hold bachelor degrees in any discipline.

The Master of Science in Education program requires a minimum of 45 credits of graduate study. The program may be completed on either a full-time or part-time basis. Courses are offered online and in face-to-face venues in Ashland and Medford. All core courses in this degree are offered online in an accelerated seven-week format to better accommodate working professionals. Fully online concentrations are available in Adult Education, Curriculum and Instruction in STEM Education, Leadership in Early Childhood Education and General Studies. Licensed teachers may add endorsements in ESOL (online or on campus) or in Special Education or Initial Administrative License on campus as a part of their MSEd program.

Graduates of the MSEd program will be able to:

Explore and translate learning theory, creative curricular design and 21st-century skills into instructional decisions and practices to address the educational challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.
Apply research and assessment to evaluate and validate instructional and programmatic choices, and organizational and educational policies.
Analyze and integrate educational research, theories, philosophies and contemporary issues into their educational practice.
Demonstrate and apply frameworks associated with cultural enrichment and humility that mitigate the power imbalance between the professional and client/student from differing cultures and abilities.
Demonstrate dimensions of leadership, ethical decision making and purposeful engagement within the profession.

Criminal Justice, BA/BS /academics/degree/criminal-justice-ba-bs/ Tue, 18 Jun 2024 18:42:29 +0000 /academics/?post_type=degree&p=89629 CCJ majors receive a BA or BS by successfully completing the 71 credits required for the CCJ major Core Curriculum. These requirements provide students with a solid background in all areas of the CCJ field, including law, policing, theory, and corrections. Students leave the program ready for the Criminal Justice field, graduate studies, or law school.

Although the CCJ department does not require a minor, the major requirements allow for opportunities to minor in other fields so students can tailor their education for their future career goals. Additionally, CCJ students have the opportunity to explore the many CCJ electives and special events such as Lock-in or a trip to a maximum security penitentiary.

Students who have a strong interest in the CCJ field and have the desire to develop their abilities for successful service at the local, state, and federal level are perfect candidates for the SOU Criminology/Criminal Justice Program.

CCJ students working towards a BA/BS will be instructed in all areas of the CCJ field through the core curriculum of the major. Students will also be educated on the fundaments of a broad range of topics to better prepare them for future employment or graduate studies.

The Capstone Research project is designed by each individual student with the aid of the class professor. Students can chose any topic they desire that is related to the CCJ field. In the past, some students have chosen to link their research with their internship, which is completed in a separate class. The final paper will be presented at the end of the term. Past research topics have included: Influences of Spanking on Juvenile Delinquency, Perception of Muslims on Campus, and Officer Stress and it’s Relation to Their Work Load.
