Mathematics University of Central Arkansas<\/p>\n<p class=\"pop-4 dig-4\">Prior to joining the mathematics department, Dr. Ashley received his MS degree in Applied Mathematics with a dual focus in the application of control systems to mathematical biology and the symmetry analysis of differential equations. He then completed a PhD in Mathematical Sciences with a focus in differential geometry at Utah State University. Dr. Ashley teaches a wide variety of mathematics courses at SOU including the precalculus and calculus sequences, introduction to proofs, abstract algebra, and various differential equations courses. His current research interests lie at the interface of symbolic computation and the domain fields of differential geometry, Lie theory, symmetry analysis, mathematical physics, and the geometric theory of differential equations. She received her Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Arizona and earned her Master&#8217;s Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. She taught middle school mathematics for 15 years and has worked as a mathematics specialist for school districts for 6 years. Her work is focused on deepening teacher content knowledge and developing effective pedagogical strategies. She taught mathematics to middle and high school students for 16 years in the Rogue Valley, during which time she also fostered her interests in areas such as technology in the classroom, instructional materials, increasing confidence in math, connecting math to real life and thinking deeply about the standards. Lisa loves to think about and try new ways to help everyone find their inner mathematician and what a purposeful classroom with an effective teacher looks like.
