Administrator Licensure (PAL) program at SOU is to develop leaders who are prepared to lead educational transformation and cultivate equity, excellence, and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>SOU\u2019s PAL program offers meaningful opportunities for students to integrate the theories of educational change with the day-to-day practice of educational administration. Classes are experiential in nature and involve a combination of case studies, authentic projects \u2013 where students participate in school improvement at their location, and extensive use of panels and discussions with school leaders.<\/p>\n<p>A distinct advantage of the SOU PAL program is the culture of collegiality, where fellow students develop supportive relationships with one another and with their instructors who can meet the needs and interests of the cohort. This meeting format is a combination of in person and online.<\/p>\n<p>The PAL coursework (40 hours) is largely experiential and project-based, making it engaging and relevant. The required practicum hours (300) enable students to move from theoretical foundations into actual practice at a variety of school levels. You will meet and work with regional administrators and build relationships that get you hired as a leader when you complete the program.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"heavy-man\">Meeting Times and Format<\/span><br \/>\nThe PAL is designed to accommodate working educators through a combination of online coursework and <em>in-person<\/em> meetings. For the first summer, the PAL program typically meets 9 days in June (including five in person day retreat to build cohort connection) and 6 days online in July. After those 15 summer days, you will have completed almost \u00bc of all the credits in the PAL program!! The summer program will prepare you to begin your practicum for the school year.<\/p>\n<p>During the school year, PAL meets approximately once a month for one Friday evening a month <em>online<\/em> and one Saturday a month from 9am &#8211; 3pm <em>in person<\/em>, making the program manageable and enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"heavy-man\">Program Prerequisites and Requirements<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0<\/li>\n<li>Teaching license or eligibility to hold a license<\/li>\n<li>Three years of teaching experience (preferably)<\/li>\n<li>A master\u2019s degree in education,OR enrollment in the SOU MSEd with PAL concentration program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"heavy-man\">For those desiring a master\u2019s degree, it can be completed through the PAL program by taking one additional 5 credit course at the end of the PAL coursework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students who do not have a master\u2019s degree may enroll concurrently in the Master of Science in Education (MSEd) program.
