Department. In addition to our core offerings in the department, students take a variety of courses specifically designed to provide quality instruction through a curriculum that educates, trains, and prepares the students to enter various careers in the health, fitness, strength and conditioning, research, or exercise data science industries.<\/p>\n<p>This concentration provides students with the knowledge and experience to become certified through national organizations such as the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength &amp; Conditioning Association and\/or the National Council of Strength and Fitness by preparing them sit for national exams in the fields of Strength and Conditioning, Personal Training, Sport Nutritional Specialists and other Human Performance Specialists.<\/p>\n<p>As the only school in Oregon to be recognized by the NSCA Education Recognition Program (ERP), our program is especially distinguished with standardized, approved strength and conditioning curricula in undergraduate and graduate settings designed to prepare students for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist\u00ae (CSCS) certification. This major also can be used as a stepping stone to continued higher educational endeavors in the Health and Exercise Science Fields.<\/p>\n<h4>Degree Roadmap<\/h4>\n<p>Every Health Education and Promotion Concentration student will take courses in Biology, Nutrition, and Medical Terminology, as well as gaining education and experience in the Essentials of Strength and Conditioning Training, Exercise Techniques and Implementation Biomechanics, and Nutrition for Training and Performance. The curriculum combines science-based coursework and integrates internship components to a student\u2019s curriculum in order to add a real-world working experience. These opportunities provide a showcase in which the student can demonstrate education and experience gained during undergraduate work. Every Health and Exercise Science major will take a range of courses associated with our core curriculum. To earn a BA or BS in Health and Exercise Science, students must have a GPA in major courses of at least 2.5.<\/p>\n<h4>Capstone<\/h4>\n<p>The undergraduate capstone experience is designed to bring reflection and focus to the whole of your college experience. It encourages students to integrate facets of interests with important concepts from Health and Exercise Science. Capstone is a culminating college experience that focuses on features of your interests and requires the use of skills, methodology, and knowledge you have learned throughout your undergraduate
