your ALEKS Account<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>SOU has partnered with ALEKS to administer math placement exams. Head to <a href=\"https:\/\/okta.sou.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">okta.sou.edu<\/a>, go to Add Apps, and search for ALEKS (click on ADD), and then head back to My Apps Home and click the newly added icon for ALEKS. This should automatically add you to SOU\u2019s math placement class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"heavy-man\">Complete the Survey &amp; Tutorial<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>When you first log into ALEKS, it will prompt you to answer a short survey where you indicate your last math class.<\/li>\n<li>Next, ALEKS will prompt you to complete a short tutorial on how to use the website. This is important as you will complete the placement exam in ALEKS using these tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"heavy-man\">Take the First Assessment<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Take the first math placement exam on your own. <span class=\"heavy-man\">You have 2.5 hours to complete the exam.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You may use one of the following calculators throughout the exam: scientific calculators and basic graphing calculators (e.g. TI-73, TI-83, or TI-84).<\/li>\n<li>For <span class=\"heavy-man\">ADA accommodations<\/span> for testing, please contact our Disability Resources office (<a href=\"mailto:dr@sou.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dr@sou.edu<\/a>) for scheduling your math placement exam.<\/li>\n<li>Your placement level will be transferred from ALEKS to SOU within <span class=\"heavy-man\">2 business days<\/span>. Once your placement has been transferred to SOU, you can register for a math course that matches your <a href=\"\/academics\/mathematics\/math-placement\/understanding-math-placement-levels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">placement level<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"heavy-man\">Retake the Placement Exam<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are unhappy with your initial placement results and would like to retake the exam, you may do so. <span class=\"heavy-man\">You may take the exam up to 5 times.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>You <span class=\"heavy-man\">must<\/span> wait at least 72 hours before retaking the exam.<\/li>\n<li>You <span class=\"heavy-man\">must<\/span> spend a minimum amount of time completing Learning Activity modules in ALEKS prior to retaking.
