itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Growing up in Ashland, Samara Diab decided to stay local and live at home during her undergrad. She was not certain what she wanted to do, but picked classes based on what excited her most\u2013reading, writing, research, and analysis. Naturally, these things led Samara to the English department. She double <a href=\"\/academics\/english\/programs\/english-ba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">majored in English<\/a> and French (She was one of the last French majors to graduate before the program got cut) and <a href=\"\/academics\/economics\/programs\/economics-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minored in Economics<\/a>. She says \u201cthank you to all the professors who returned essays to [her] completely covered in red- ink edits.\u201d and to Alma Rosa Alvarez\u2019s critical-theory course for being challenging and rewarding. As an English major, Samara became a confident writer and a quick reader with an eye for detail \u2014 skills which were essential in law school and in her future career.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-9lcy9h7-e21dc1d53754c1b3988a04920535d9fd\">\n#top .av_textblock_section.av-9lcy9h7-e21dc1d53754c1b3988a04920535d9fd .avia_textblock{\nfont-size:15px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-9lcy9h7-e21dc1d53754c1b3988a04920535d9fd '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>In fall 2019 Samara began law school at the University of Arizona\u2019s James E. Rogers College of Law. This program seemed like \u201ca natural fit&#8230;in the sense that it required a strong ability to read, write, and analyze\u2013all of the things [she] had loved so much during undergrad.\u201d Although she felt prepared for the academic demands of law school, Samara felt frustrated by the culture and the \u201carchaic and often ritualistic pedagogy that fails to support students who do not fit the traditional, conservative image of \u2018lawyer.\u2019\u201d The pandemic only heightened her frustration. Despite these challenges, Samara found professors and peers who challenged, supported, and inspired her. She \u201cprovides services to low-income tenants statewide,\u201d but her primary service area is the central Oregon coast (Lincoln county) area. Samara works as both an eviction defense attorney and a trial attorney.
